This project is part of the DZHK’s focus area "Challenge cardiomyopathies and structural heart disease: from molecular cause to personalised therapy". It is using advanced CMR techniques to provide an understanding of the microstructural basis of cardiomyopathies and their functional consequences. By its non-invasive and in-vivo nature, CMR may be used to provide longitudinal follow-up in a cohort for monitoring the natural progression of cardiomyopathies as well as analysing the effect of therapeutic intervention. The deep-phenotyping of the myocardium in different cardiomyopathies will provide improved diagnostic capabilities and provide the foundation to guide personalized therapy.
