Munich Remote SpO2 and Heart Rate Assessment in Covid-19 patients (COVID SMART formerly MR SPOC)

Most people infected with SARS-CoV-2 initially start the disease in quarantine at home. Especially in people with risk factors or pre-existing conditions, the state can worsen later, sometimes almost unnoticed.

In the COVID SMART study (Munich Remote SpO2 and Heart Rate Assessment in Covid-19 patients), the affected patients are equipped with modern smartwatches that continuously measure ECG, pulse, and oxygen saturation in the blood. If the condition worsens, the patient can use his or her data to obtain telemedical advice via a 24-hour medical hotline to determine whether hospitalization is necessary. COVID-19 patients get into the hospital in time, but avoid unnecessary hospital stays - and the healthcare system is also relieved.
