With Professor Martin Witzenrath, Deputy Director of the Department of Medicine with focus on Infectiology and Pneumology and Head of the Pulmonary Inflammation Unit. He is also responsible for the BMBF-funded PROVID project, which is investigating the prognosis, pathomechanisms and treatment strategies of COVID-19.
What specific therapeutics are available and when should they be used? Are these only for severely ill patients?

Clinical Trials Masterclass with Prof. Roxana Mehran, New York (USA), an internationally recognized interventional cardiologist and expert in clinical research in cardiovascular disease. A professor of medicine (cardiology) and health science and policy at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, she has established a globally recognized academic research center focused on the development of randomized clinical trials. As principal investigator, she has been involved in numerous global trials. She has developed risk scores for hemorrhage and acute kidney injury, is regularly involved in clinical guideline development, and has authored more than 1,000 peer-reviewed articles.

Clinical Trials Masterclass with Prof. Faiez Zannad, Nancy (France), Heart Failure Specialist. Faiez Zannad has made significant contributions to biomarker research. He currently leads two EU-funded programs: www.homage-hf.eu and www.fibrotargets.eu. He was Principal Investigator (PI) of the first outcome trial of a non-vitamin K-dependent oral anticoagulant (NOAK) in heart failure ((COMMANDER-HF-Study) and co-PI of the first outcome trial of glucose-lowering SGLT2 inhibitors (EMPEROR-Reduced-Study) in heart failure. Zannad is a founder of the Global CardioVascular Clinical Trialists Forum (CVCT) .

Clinical Trials Masterclass with Prof. Paulus Kirchhof, Hamburg, Director of the Department of Cardiology at the University Heart and Vascular Center UKE Hamburg and holds a part-time position as Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Birmingham. He researches translational mechanisms and management of cardiovascular diseases with a special interest in atrial fibrillation, cardiomyopathies, and heart failure. His research aims to translate new mechanistic findings into patient benefit, covering mechanistic research, translational studies, and large clinical trials. Professor Kirchhof chairs the Board of AFNET and sits on the Board of the European Society of Cardiology. He also contributes to guidelines, curricula, and textbooks
