The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and coordinated by the TU Berlin.
Central goals are: To advance the theoretical and algorithmic foundations of Machine Learning in an internationally competitive manner. To open up new scientific and technical ML applications. To strive for a much simpler and better usability of ML methods for industry and the sciences as a whole and to make genuinely new research contributions in the participating sciences by jointly exploring new inter-disciplinary research fields in the sciences and medicine with new challenges for ML.
The BZML is one of four BMBF-funded Machine Learning Competence Centers. The ministry provides a total of 30 million euros for a period of four to seven years.
