Grand Opening on 10 May 2012 in Berlin – Research Activities Launched – Logo Selected – Main Office Opened
The German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK) is up and running. 140 scientists at 26 research institutions across Germany are pooling their resources and developing a joint research strategy for cardiovascular research. Within only a short time, numerous research projects have been initiated and innovative forms of cooperation of all partners have been developed. Furthermore, the DZHK head office has begun operations, the website has been launched and is now online, and the logo has been selected.

State Secretary Dr. Georg Schütte (BMBF) will hold the welcome address.
Professor Thomas Eschenhagen will present the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK). Professor Garret A. FitzGerald will hold the keynote address on the topic “Initiatives in Translational Medicine: Unlocking Therapeutic Opportunities“, and Professor Hugo Katus as “father” of the troponin test will describe a success story of cardiology research in Germany.
